Background
I have been a business and executive coach since 1991, working with people in a wide variety of organisations and entrepreneurial businesses. Over the years I have come to realise just how much frustration and disappointment is caused by communication difficulties between different styles and approaches typically used by technical experts and those with whom they work - colleagues, clients, reports and other stakeholders. So many are suffering unnecessary stress and limitation because of this problem. I really enjoy working with people to help them develop flexibility and skills so they can communicate effectively and appropriately in different contexts - it's such a pleasure to witness their transformation.
Previous Experience
In the early '90s I co-founded a niche business consultancy developing leadership, team and individual performance, during which time I specialised as an executive coach and mentor. I have been an independent coach since 2002.
For fourteen years I was a volunteer advisor, coach and counsellor with the Citizens Advice Bureau and continue to make a contribution in the not-for-profit sector.
As well as an MA in Linguistics and Social Anthropology from Edinburgh University, I have a counselling qualification from the University of Surrey (1992) and am an accredited NLP coach (1998) and Master Practitioner (1993). I am a member of the International Coach Federation and subscribe to their rigorous Code of Ethics.
I am based near Farnham in Surrey and most of my face-to-face coaching work is in London and the South East. I also undertake telephone coaching, working with clients in various parts of the UK, Europe and Asia.
